Inactivated hepatitis A vaccine
Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Inj in deltoid region for adults & childn & in anterolateral thigh for young childn. Primary vaccination Adult ≥19 yr Single dose of Havrix 1440 Adult (1 mL). Childn & adolescent 1-18 yr Single dose of Havrix 720 Junior (0.5 mL). Booster vaccination given at any time between 6 mth & 5 yr, but preferably between 6 & 12 mth after primary dose.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Postpone vaccination in patients suffering from acute severe febrile illness. Not to be administered intravascularly, SC/intradermally, or in gluteal region. Not indicated to prevent hepatitis infection caused by other agents eg, HBV, HCV, hepatitis E virus or other liver-infecting pathogens. Patients w/ thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorder. May require additional doses in patients on haemodialysis or w/ impaired immune system. Syncope. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Irritability; headache; inj site pain & redness, fatigue. Loss of appetite; drowsiness; GI symptoms (eg, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting); malaise, fever (≥37.5°C), inj site reaction eg, swelling or induration.
